Urban soundscapes 1920 and 2020

With the media foundation of the previous telegraph and newspaper media, followed the development and renewal of society, people’s demand for media is getting higher and higher. Traditional media cannot meet the needs of social development. With the invention of Phonautograph by Edouard-Leon Scott de Martinville, it marks that people have begun to enter the field of media with a sound background. There is a biggest different between the 1920s and 2020s that 1920s century was simple sound by the machine, but the 2020s period combine the sound and video. Moreover,  sounds function in media background can also interact with people duo to the video reason, such as live streaming. But their similarity is that they rely on voice for information dissemination, so that the audience can receive the information. In the past century, the development of the media at the beginning was mainly to serve the war and record history, but now the media has developed to be an indispensable part of people’s lives. For example, food, clothing, housing and transportation are closely related to the media and the the cash was replaced by the telephone and card. In the past, for example, in 1920, due to the high cost of media at that time, it was only active in a small number of groups in society, and only remained in simple machines to speak. However, 2020 can be said to be the era of computer media. It can interact with videos and machines at the same time, changing people’s lifestyles in terms of living habits. For instance, nowadays, many drivers cannot do without the voice navigation system, which can solve many problems for people in their lives and serve people in need. This is also a point of its noisy. Therefore, over the past century, the function of urban sound landscape is mainly from simple communication to the change process of serving people in the life.
